"Camille" (1936) - A love story to not be forgotten...

"Camille" is a  love story between Marguerite Gautier a courtesan used to a luxurius and vain way of life but empty of love and happiness and Armand Duval, a young passionate and sensitive man who falls blindly in love with Marguerite. By his side she finds finally happiness and sincere love. However, Marguerite is seriously ill and Armand's father does not want him to be involved with a woman he thinks will ruin his son's life and reputation.
This movie unfolds in a very dramatic fashion. The passion between Armand and Marguerite is mesmerizing. Greta Garbo's performance is remarkable and for the first time it is possible to see her without that distant nature. Her inner self is transparent and both characters show pretty convincing emotions.
Marguerite Gautier is a singular woman. It is interesting to see her little by little detachs herself from that skeptical way to relate to deep emotions to then get lost in love.
I read the book too. The story is told in a  little different way. Some parts in which Marguerite talks about her love for Armand are extremely poignant and beautifully written.
This is one of my very favorite movies!
